Aston Villa have endured something of a striker crisis in recent weeks with 19-year old Keinan Davis the only senior striker available to Steve Bruce.

That has been eased somewhat with the return of Gabriel Agbonlahor, but injuries to Scott Hogan and the long-term absence of Jonthan Kodjia mean it’s a position that Bruce will prioritise in the January transfer window.

The club have been linked with several names, with Oli McBurnie and Leon Clarke two of the most prominent to feature in the reports.

Clarke has been a revelation for Sheffield United this season and is the Championship’s top scorer, however, it would be difficult to take the 32-year old him away from Bramall Lane given the two clubs are direct rivals for promotion.

Meanwhile, McBurnie is at the other end of his career, with the 21-year old enjoying a growing reputation by scoring regularly for the Swansea development side.

But, if Villa are only able to get one of these strikers in the window, who should they go for?

We take a look…

George Dagless

It's actually a tough one but I'd say Leon Clarke.

It's only tough because I don't know if Clarke would continue his form without Chris Wilder in charge.

If he did, then it's a no-brainer over McBurnie who has nothing stand-out on his CV so far in his career.

Sam Rourke

It'd have to be Clarke, but I can't see it happening at all.

Clarke is bang in form, and Villa need a clinical striker to help share the burden of goals.

McBurnie is a seriously promising prospect, but if I had the choice, it has to be Clarke.

Alfie Burns

Leon Clarke, without a shadow of doubt.

The 32-year-old has been exceptional this season, and his experience would help the likes of Keinan Davis develop at Villa Park, whilst the striker would also bring a huge goalscoring threat.

Strikers thrive off confidence, and Clarke is full of that after an incredible goalscoring run.

McBurnie or Clarke? For me, it isn’t a contest.
