Aston Villa's impressive run under manager Dean Smith continues with the Villans now fifth in the Championship, on a run of eight consecutive victories with only four matches of the season remaining.

Barring a calamity, the play-offs are now within Smith's grasp and though that will have most of Smith's attention he is bound to have half an eye on possible recruits for the summer, with Brentford striker Neal Maupay a target, according to The Mirror.

So would Maupay be a good addition to Smith's Villa ranks?

We discuss........

Sam Rourke

"A terrific signing.

"Maupay has well and truly shone for Brentford this season and clearly has what it takes to excel in England's second tier.

"He has a knack of being in the right place at the right time, and you feel with all the creative players that Aston Villa possess, most notaby Jack Grealish, Maupay could thrive in this side."

George Harbey

"It would be an excellent replacement for Abraham if Villa fail to tie him down to a permanent deal.

"Maupay is a player that Smith will know like the back of his hands, which can only be beneficial for Villa if they sigh him.

"He produces a load of assists and is clinical in front of goal - Villa fans will be praying he’s not another Scott Hogan!"

Jacob Potter

"He's exactly what they need.

"Maupay is proven in the Championship and would be the missing piece in the jigsaw for Aston Villa.

"He's more than capable of making the step up to the Premier League as well and he should be top of their shopping list.

"He'd be the perfect Tammy Abraham replacement."
