Bolton Wanderers slumped to a pre-season defeat against National League North side York City this weekend, losing 1-0.

As reported by the club's official Twitter feed, it was a youthful Trotters squad that took to the field, but having experienced a mass-exodus as a result of their financial troubles, anything else wasn't really an option.

The takeover hasn't yet concluded and senior players such as Sammy Ameobi and Mark Little have jumped ship, as well as a host of others who were out of contract at the end of last season.

Having entered administration last time out they now face a 12-point deduction in their League One campaign, exasperating their current troubles.

Supporters have every right to be concerned and after this weekend's result, it seems they are. There is a real fear that last year's relegation might be the start of a decline that could end anywhere; League Two or maybe even worse.

Here are some of the responses worried fans left on the club's Twitter feed after the York defeat.
