Ipswich Town will be facing up to life in League One next season following relegation, with the planning starting in earnest once their final match of the season at home to Leeds United is out of the way this weekend.

Tractor Boys manager Paul Lambert has already got the ball rolling though, by taking up an option of extending defender Josh Emmanuel's stay at Portman Road until the end of the 2019/20 season.

So, is a contract extension for Emmanuel good news for Ipswich?

We discuss........

Alfie Burns

“The planning for League One at Ipswich has been really encouraging so far.

“Lambert is getting things in order early, which is only a good thing, and Emmanuel’s extension is another positive.

“It’ll be interesting to see how they go next year.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Absolutely.

“I’ve seen him first hand on a couple of occasions and he’s really impressive.

“They’ve got a chance to give him regular football next season and if they do, he’s going to be a big player for them.”

George Brooks

"Absolutely.

"It is important that Ipswich start preparing for next season in League One and this is a smart move by Paul Lambert.

"Emmanuel is a decent player and at 21, there is still plenty of time for him to improve.

"His experience winning promotion from League One with Rotherham could be very important, as Ipswich will look to secure an immediate return to the Championship next season."
