Stoke City manager Nathan Jones is working hard during this summer transfer window, as he looks to stamp his own mark on his Potters squad, with only a few weeks before the start of pre-season.

Jones has looked to newly promoted Barnsley for his latest recruit, with The Scottish Sun confirming that centre-back Liam Lindsay is his latest recruit as both clubs agreed a deal worth £2million plus add-ons.

So is Lindsay a good addition at the Bet365 Stadium?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"I think this would be a good signing.

"Lindsay played a big role in Barnsley's promotion last season, and showed that he is ready for the Championship.

"You feel he would help solidify what is already a strong Stoke defence, and offer it a new longer term option going forward, with the likes of Ryan Shawcross reaching the back end of their careers."

Kealan Hughes

“Lindsay was excellent for Barnsley last season, and he is ready for the step up to the Championship.

“Stoke need young players who are hungry to prove themselves and constantly trying to improve.

“Lindsay is exactly that, and playing regularly will help him to improve further, particularly as he has the experience of Ryan Shawcross and Danny Batth to call on. If Jones can get the best out of him he could be a coup.”

Gary Hutchinson

“I like Lindsay, he’s got a good understanding of the game and I feel he made Ethan Pinnock look better than he was.

“Stoke have a ageing defence and I see Lindsay slotting in and giving it some vibrancy and energy.

“He’s a Ryan Shawcross replacement and although Shawcross was poor last season, he’s been a good defender for them over the years.

“It’s a lot for Liam Lindsay to live up to, but he can do it.”

George Brooks

"Lindsay would be a great signing for Stoke.

"He was magnificent for Barnsley in League One last season and should be able to handle the step up to the Championship, whether it's playing for Barnsley or another club.

"He's still only 23 and will only improve with more experience.

"It will be a blow for Barnsley to lose him, especially as he would be going to a club in the same division."

Jacob Potter

"A smart bit of business.

"Lindsay has already shown that he’s a class above int he Barnsley team, and I’m not surprised to see other clubs keeping tabs on him over the summer.

"Stoke need players that know the lower leagues well heading into next season, and Lindsay is certainly one of them.

"It’s the best move for both parties involved, and I think it could turn out to be one of Stoke’s signings of the season if he can hit the ground running."
