Ipswich Town are said to be interested in signing Motherwell midfielder, Alejandro Rodriguez Girron according to Football Insider.

The Spaniard is out of contract with the Scottish side later this month, and it's looking increasingly likely that he will leave the club in favour of a move to England.

The report also claims that Portsmouth are interested in signing Girron, and Ipswich will have to make swift movements if they are to land his signature.

Girron was released by Sunderland as a youngster back in 2014, and he'll certainly feel as though he's got unfinished business in English football.

If he was to sign for Ipswich, he'd be expected to play his part in their promotion bid next season, with the Tractor Boys looking to bounce back from a disappointing league campaign last season, where they were relegated from the Championship.

But would Gorrin be a good signing for Ipswich?

We discuss....

Louie Chandler:

"It could be a shrewd signing.

"There is no doubting that Ipswich will need to strengthen this summer if they hope to escape League One at the first time of asking.

"They already have some good options in that area but adding another one would not to any harm."

Gary Hutchinson:

"I really like the idea of this signing.

"Usually I don't recommend European imports into our lower leagues. Nothing can quite prepare a player for a Tuesday night in Rochdale.

"However, having plied his trade north of the border, this is a sensible signing.

"He's a talented boy too, his stats speak for themselves and he'd be a huge capture for Ipswich."

Jacob Potter:

"This would be a smart bit of business.

"Girron has a point to prove in English football, and I think he's the type of player that would fit perfectly into this Ipswich side ahead of next season.

"He offers the ideal cover to an Ipswich defence that has looked poor for the majority of last season, so it would be a great signing for the Tractor Boys if they managed to beat Portsmouth to signing him."
