Norwich City completed a deadline day deal from Arsenal on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Brazilian has struggled for game time this season with the Premier League leaders, with the majority of his minutes coming in the domestic cups and Europa League.

The forward has made six appearances in all competitions this season, contributing one goal and one assist.

Marquinhos will be hoping to earn consistent game time as part of David Wagner’s promotion chasing side.

FLW’s Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes is optimistic that the 19-year old has what it takes to make an impact at Carrow Road.

He has highlighted how far the player has come at this stage of his career as a sign of his quality, and believes he will bring something different to the team’s attacking options.

“Really excited about signing Marquinhos on loan,” Downes told Football League World.

“He’s 19, he is already doing quite well in the Europa League.

“He’s not really started many games in the league or even played too often but the Arsenal fans love him, which is really, really promising.

“I think he will add a little bit extra pace and directness to our attacks.

“We’ve got [Onel] Hernandez, who will probably be similar to him, but other than that we didn’t really have anyone else like that so it’ll be a really, really good addition.

“And he’s young and hungry, and to be deemed too good for the U21s at 19 is a really, really good sign.”

Marquinhos was the only new arrival for the Canaries this window, with Wagner making his first signing as Norwich boss.

The German will be hoping that Marquinhos can play a role in the team’s promotion push, with the club currently 7th in the Championship table.

The Verdict

Marquinhos hasn’t quite been able to break through at Arsenal this season, but the standard has been so high at the Emirates that there is no real shame in that.

Making the move to Carrow Road is a great opportunity for him to get greater game time to help him adapt to English football.

The forward will bring a new dynamic to the team’s attacking options and he could prove to be a big difference maker as a result.

If he can play a role in helping Norwich earn a top six finish then that will surely grab the attention of Mikel Arteta.
