Sheffield Wednesday have suffered a slight dip in form which will leave plenty to ponder for Garry Monk over the international break.

The Owls followed up a shock defeat to Blackburn Rovers with a 2-2 draw at home to Swansea City, where they were left frustrated after conceding late on to Steve Cooper's side.

They took the lead in injury-time through Morgan Fox, but Ben Wilmot had the last laugh as he equalised at the death to salvage a point for the Swans.

Speaking in an interview with the The Star, Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan labelled the late equaliser from Swansea as 'a real sucker punch'.

"We showed grit and determination to get back and get in the lead. We didn’t switch off, it was just a corner, and a mistake, I can’t really explain. It was maybe just a lack of concentration at a set-piece. It was a real sucker punch."

Bannan went on to reveal that his team don't fear any team in the Championship, and highlighted the importance of remaining positive heading into some crucial games which could make or break their season.

"There’s loads of games left, we know what we are capable of and we have nearly played everybody in this league. We know there is no-one to fear. We have had a good look at everyone and can go into the second half of the season in a positive mind."

Sheffield Wednesday are next in action after the international break when they take on league leaders West Brom, in what is likely to be one of their toughest games of the season so far.

The Verdict:

Their last two games will have been a concern for both Garry Monk and the Sheffield Wednesday supporters heading into the international break.

They've shown lapses in concentration, which you cannot afford to make at this level, as we've already seen that teams get punished for switching off.

Sheffield Wednesday have got a good enough squad to be challenging for a top-six finish this season, but they need to learn how to close out games if they're to achieve that.
