Albert Adomah is a player in high demand this summer after being released by Aston Villa earlier this month.

Since then he has been linked with Millwall, Nottingham Forest and former club Bristol City - so the 31-year-old has quite the decision on his hands.

The Ghanaian has two promotions form the Championship on his CV, and won Aston Villa's Player of the Year in 2017/18, so he still has a lot to offer at this level, which clubs are all too aware of.

Our FLW Six Point Opinion breaks down his current situation, where he could end up, and how he will fair next season.

Where would you go if you were Albert Adomah?

"Bristol City. The player clearly has a connection with the club and he has said in the past that he would love to player for the club again should the opportunity arise.

"Not only that, but Lee Johnson would be a fantastic manager to work under and the club is clearly heading in the right direction.

"Adomah could be the difference they need on and off the field. His experience of getting teams into the play-offs will be vital and his signing would bring a real buzz to the fanbase and club as a whole. He'd be greeted with a hero's welcome."

Would offering him a contract longer than a year be a risk?

"Adomah may be 31 but he has never been unable to complete a full season, despite the intensity of the Championship.

"It could be a risk if he signs for a team which gains promotion. In that scenario it is unlikely he would needed in the Premier League and then they would have to go about getting him off the wage bill, but even then he wouldn't be short of suitors.

"Another worry would be his wages. For a club like Millwall where the budget is tight they need to ensure that all signings, but particularly those getting paid a lot, come in and start firing straight away. If Adomah failed to do that he could be an expensive mistake for a club like them."

Which team is best suited to the way he plays?

"Adomah is capable of putting in impressive performances for whomever he signs for, but out of the clubs he is linked with his best bet might be Bristol City.

"At Millwall or Forest his work rate off the ball would be very intense - that is the style of those two clubs and their respective managers. Adomah is capable of doing that but it will drain his energy and as a result he won't be as effective on the ball.

"Bristol City play a passing, at times expansive style and Adomah would be well suited to that. His ability to beat a man and quality crossing means he could provide good service to the likes of Weimann and Diedhiou too."

Is he good enough to play for a promotion-chasing team?

"He proved last season that he is, playing in the play-off final as Villa were promoted. He also played for Middlesbrough for three years and in that time they always challenged for promotion, before being promoted in 2016 in what proved to be his final season at The Riverside.

"There is a concern that he was dropped mid-way through the season last year, but he still played a valuable role from the bench and is a great option to have for any Championship side.

"He contributes so much to the teams he plays for. His influence on the dressing room is vital, he's a real leader and he would be able to galvanise a club whether they're fighting off relegation or going for promotion."

Could he still play in the Championship long-term?

"It is difficult to see where he will be in say five years' time, but he is certainly worthy of another contract at this level - with two years the most likely scenario.

"He has lost some pace and that has affected his game, but with a player as intelligent as Adomah he will adapt his style and still prove to be effective.

"Adomah probably has one year to prove he can play regularly for a top side - and not lose his place to a young, fresher winger like Andre Green like he did last season. If he impresses next year then there is no reason why he will drop down the division."

Should the clubs interested in Adomah make him a priority this summer?

"For a club like Millwall he would be a real coup on a free and he is the type of player they should be aiming to sign if they are to make the next level. However, if that means offering him ridiculous wages for a club of their size then he may not be worth it.

"He can't be relied upon to start every game and if he was to pick up a serious injury it would be a real setback in their season.

"He would be an important signing for Bristol City or Forest, particularly if Joe Lolley departs from the City Ground. He is a player who should be a top target for both clubs but with the links and finances available at both clubs they will not be too disappointed if they miss out as they probably have numerous players on their radar."
