Reading manager Jose Gomes looks like having pulled off a coup by landing Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria for a second loan spell at the Madejski Stadium next season, having already spent a successful loan spell in West Berkshire over the second half of their last Championship campaign, as reported in the print edition of The Sun on Sunday (June 16, Page 60).

Ejaria, 21, made 16 appearances for the Royals scoring one goal and making two assists in a season that saw the Royals only narrowly miss out on relegation to League One.

So, is the signing of Ejaria for a second spell at the Royals a good bit of business for Gomes?

We discuss........

Toby Wilding

"I think this would be a smart move from Reading.

"Ejaria already knows the club, and seemed to be a big hit with Royals fans last season, so this is a move that should go down well at The Madjeski.

"It will be interesting to see if Ejaria can replicate his form from the end of the last campaign over a full season at Reading, which could play a big part as they look to avoid another relegation battle over the coming 12 months."

Kealan Hughes

"This would be a great signing if he can repeat his form from last season.

"He provides energy, pace and is great at beating his defender, although his final ball does need to improve. He can also play across the midfield which is a bonus for Reading.

"However, one thing he will need to improve on is his goal and assist return. If Reading are to avoid another relegation tussle they need more goals in the side, particularly from midfield, so Ejaria will need to contribute in this area to be a real success.

Gary Hutchinson

“Yeah, this would be good business.

“He didn’t steal the headlines like Harry Wilson last season, but he’s an energetic and exciting young player.

“He can make things happen and Reading want that in their side.

“If they’re to stay out of the relegation race this season, this is the sort of trump card they need in their hand.”

George Brooks

"This would be a smart move by Reading.

"Ejaria is a good player and was excellent while on loan at the Madejski Stadium last season.

"He's unlikely to get a chance in the first-team at Liverpool next season, so another loan move would be the best thing for his development and Reading would be a good move for him.

"He already knows the club well and should be able to make an instant impact."

Jacob Potter

"A real coup for the Royals.

"I didn’t expect them to re-sign any of the loanees that were at the club last season, so they’ve done well to strike a deal with Ejaria here.

"He showed real promise towards the back end of last season, and if he can build on those impressive showings, then he could be one of their signings of the season.

"They need to add quality to their side ahead of next season, and Ejaria certainly does that as they aim for a better placed finish in the Championship."
