Rotherham have bolstered their attacking options in League One by signing Freddie Ladapo from Plymouth Argyle.

Rotherham United have confirmed the signing on an undisclosed fee, which was also the club's record signing.

The 26-year-old had a very impressive season in League One last year, scoring 18 goals despite his former teams' relegation.

In this FLW Six Pointer, we look at whether Ladapo is a good signing for Rotherham and whether he will be able to do it for them next year.

What do we know about Freddie Ladapo?

"Freddie Ladapo is a 26-year-old centre forward who was born in Romford.

"He made his break by joining Crystal Palace from Margate in 2016, however, he failed to ever really get a run in the side in Croydon and was loaned out to Oldham and Shrewsbury, chipping in with two and four goals respectively.

"Ladapo was then released by Palace and picked up by Southend before being released after 10 games.

"He then joined Plymouth last summer where he took off and scored 18 goals in 45 games.

"He is six foot tall and has very good physical attributes and his pace and strength causes a lot of teams problems, as does his ability to get in behind."

Is he a good signing?

"Ladapo is great signing for Rotherham, especially considering the fee he is reportedly available for, according to Plymouth Live.

"At only a reported £500,000 there is a striker who proved he can do it at this level, and with the addition of some better quality and more chances, he could surpass 18 goals next season.

"It's a win-win for Rotherham; at that price, even if he had a bad season I can't imagine his value going down much, and I can definitely see it going up if Rotherham go up and he can score a few."

Will he start?

"Ladapo wouldn't have signed for Rotherham unless he was guaranteed a position in their starting XI.

"It would be strange if he didn't get much game time after being bought for a club record fee.

"Michael Smith played almost every game last year in the Championship, and Ladapo offers a good alternate for Smith, who is more of a target man than his new signing."

Are there better options?

"For Rotherham right now, there aren't many better options out there for the club, who will be looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

"They have bought a player who has shown he can score goals at this level and for a reduced fee due to Plymouth's relegation and because he is in the last year of his contract."

Is £500k a good price?

"It's a real bargain in modern days considering he was the sixth top scorer in the division last year.

"When you consider that Sunderland paid £4million for Will Griggs, picking up Ladapo for a reported eighth of the price is a really good deal.

"You have to pay a lot for goals and paying the club record will be worth it if they can find themselves in the Championship at the end of next season."

How should Rotherham fans feel about the singing?

"Rotherham fans should be excited about this signing as he was an outstanding player last year.

"He is good enough to make a real impact at the club and his work last season has made him deserve a move to a club such as Rotherham.

"He should add something different to New York Stadium and will be coming full of confidence from Plymouth."
