Hull City's inconsistency continued at the weekend, as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town, with the Terriers looking impressive under the watchful eye of Danny Cowley.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki were kept quiet during the game as goals from Karlan Grant, Juninho Bacuna and Elias Kachunga saw the Terriers run out comfortable winners.

Football League World's Hull City fan pundit Alex Chittock felt that Huddersfield did their homework on nullifying the threat posed by Grosicki and Bowen, who have both been hugely impressive for the Tigers so far this season.

"Despite several other players impressing so far this season, it's tough to imagine where we would be without key wingers Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen.

"The majority of the time, over-reliance isn't too much of an issue with our high-pressing, counter-attacking style allowing Bowen and Grosicki to be at their most effective, and in particular Kevin Stewart and Jordy de Wijs have given us a lot of solidity in midfield and defence respectively in recent times.

"However, it can happen where, with the right game plan, teams are able to nullify our obvious strengths, and that's what Huddersfield did well. Bowen was kept largely quiet simply through being surrounded by multiple players when on the ball and kept off his dangerous left foot, with Grosicki having a rare ineffective day."

Grosicki has four league goals to his name this season, whilst Bowen (who has been attracting interest from Tottenham in the past) has also found the back of the net on four occasions.

The regular punter went on to reveal that there are other options available to Grant McCann, although the likes of Josh Bowler and David Milinkovic are unlikely to get their chance ahead of Bowen and Grosicki.

"In terms of backup, Josh Bowler is our other main wide option and seems to be a strong, direct runner with the ball but hasn't yet been able to make too much of an impact purely due to the form of Bowen and Grosicki; the only way we can fit him in is by changing our shape, which cost us the game against Huddersfield.

"Tom Eaves unfortunately again struggled to assert himself as he adjusts to the step up in quality, and it is clear the connection between strikers and wingers is something we desperately need.

"Jackson Irvine missed the trip to Huddersfield due to family issues and for me it only proved his vital role to the team, as we missed the energetic link between midfield and attack. Jon Toral and David Milinkovic are other options going forward, but are often unavailable due to injury in Toral's case, or a whole host of off-the-field issues for Milinkovic."
