Barnsley may be forced to settle for the play-offs after defeat at Burton made it one win in five for Daniel Stendel’s men.
Whilst it leaves the Tykes in second place, they are level on points with Sunderland who have two games in hand.
It appears they have lost form at the wrong time but it can’t take away from the fact that they’ve had a fine season and they won’t have given up on finishing in the top two.
A key reason for that success has been a solid defence as no side has conceded fewer goals than Barnsley, with Ethan Pinnock and Liam Lindsay forming a strong partnership at the centre-back.
The latter joined from Partick Thistle in the summer of 2017 and his arrival was greeted with real positivity.

And, it’s fair to say that optimism from Tykes fans was justified, with Lindsay really kicking on this season and establishing himself as a top performer in the Football League.
That talent has been recognised by others too, with reports from earlier this year suggesting that the 23-year-old is a £5m target for the likes of Leeds United and Celtic.
He has shown a real maturity in his displays over the past 12 months, leading from the back as well as showing great defensive instincts.
Therefore, the interest is understandable and it will be a challenge for the Yorkshire outfit to keep hold of Lindsay if a serious bid does materialise.
However, the fact he is the latest impressive defender to star at Oakwell is a real postive for the club and the player deserves credit for beginning to fulfil the potential many saw in him.
