A big summer awaits at Portman Road for Ipswich Town.

Mick McCarthy is gone and the club is still looking for the right replacement.

Certainly, they need to get it right in order to get into the play-off places and at long last leave the second tier.

Whether the new manager is given a big budget by Marcus Evans remains to be seen, of course, but new signings will surely occur anyway as the Blues look to add more consistency to their side.

We've been thinking about who the club should perhaps be looking at this window then to enhance the squad with it fair to say that it doesn't need a massive overhaul, just extra options in the right places.

Here's an XI we've drawn up with three new faces...

One of, if not, the best keeper(s) in the league, Ipswich need to keep hold of this man.

If they keep with three at the back they need to add more central options, Liam Lindsay could be worth a look.

Adam Webster is a player the Tractor Boys will want to have in the side all season next year.

A reliable presence on the left of defence, Knudsen should stay put.

Spence is also reliable enough but now needs to show he can add more to his game next season.

Connolly keeps his place in midfield.

Mr. Ipswich. Skuse is bound to feature regularly next season.

Nydam impressed in earnest in the season just gone, he should get the chance to kick on.

Could Oviedo be a good addition down the left? Adding competition out wide is something Ipswich need to do this summer.

Waghorn was superb in 2017/18. He's capable of getting the Tractor Boys a play-off spot.

Ipswich aren't completely short of goals with Joe Garner a good option but adding Jack Marriott might just take them up a gear in terms of fire power.
