Football League World's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Christian Baxby has expressed his excitement at the apparently imminent arrival of winger Kadeem Harris.

On Wednesday, Football Insider revealed that the Owls had won the race to sign the 26-year-old on a free transfer at the end of June after agreeing personal terms.

"Kadeem Harris would be a great signing," the regular punter told Football League World.

"For the last few years, most Wednesday fans have been crying out for a pacy and direct winger. We kind of saw it with Rolando Aarons but we need someone long term.

"From what I've seen he can play on both wings or just behind the strikers so would be a great addition and a player that would excite Hillsborough."

Harris made just 13 Premier League appearances for the Bluebirds last season as they were relegated back to the Championship.

But in 57 previous second-tier appearances he has scored five goals and assisted six more, doing enough to catch the eye of Steve Bruce as he continues to put his mark on the club.

And for Baxby, this is an important factor.

"Steve Bruce has always had tricky and pacy wingers in every team he’s managed such as [Albert] Adomah and Robbie Brady," he said.

"Currently our squad lacks wingers so the position is basically for Kadeem to lose.

"Originally I would have said [Marco] Matias and [George] Boyd (would fear Harris' arrival) but they are no longer with the club. I do expect more wingers to be added to raise competition within the squad."

But what next for Bruce in this transfer window?

"Next we need to look at the defence and centre midfield position," Baxby said.

"A decent left back is important and a position we’ve lacked in for many seasons. I’d like to see [Achraaf] Lazaar or even [Jonas] Knudsen from Ipswich."
