Nottingham Forest are going through a mixed season with Mark Warburton's men winning eight games, and losing eight matches so far this season in the league.

The manager has often played around with his defence this season due to injuries and suspensions, and one man who has found it tough of late is Matt Mills.

The experienced centre-back was suspended back in September, and has subsequently found it hard to reclaim a starting berth in the Reds' side.

The writers here at FLW have issued their verdicts on Matt Mills' season so far....

Chris Gallagher

Very poor.

The centre-back made several errors when he was in the team and didn't play to anywhere near his best.

Since suspension kept him out of the Sheffield United game in late September, the ex-Bolton man hasn't got back in the team.

He needs to improve when he next gets his chance.

George Dagless

Difficult.

Mills has struggled for form at times this season and the amount of bookings he has racked up so far hasn't helped his cause.

He's got tough competition in the likes of Joe Worrall and Michael Mancienne at Forest at the moment and I'd say they're ahead of him in the pecking order.

Let's see how he responds.

Adam Simeoni

Mills has done pretty well.

There is a lot of competition for places at Forest at the back and Mills was pushed out at one point, but his experience alongside the talented young Joe Worrall could prove invaluable as the season progresses.

Alfie Burns

Disappointing.

Mills has not proved to be the leader that Warburton needed in central defence, Forest have conceded 15 goals during Mills’ nine appearance in the Championship, with the 31-year-old helping the Reds to just two clean sheets in that time.

A player of his experience should offer so much more.
