Football League World's Luton Town fan pundit Dylan Bhundia has spoken in glowing terms of the impact that Hatters striker James Collins has made in contribution to the club's first season back in the Championship since the 2006/2007 campaign.

The Hatters of course took their place back in the second division of English football this season after securing promotion last season from League One as they ran out as champions with 94 points, losing just six games in the process.

The Kenilworth Road outfit now find themselves in 18th place in the Championship, with Graeme Jones leading his side to a points total of 10 from a possible 27 available so far.

A largely positive start for the promoted side, which has been led superbly upfront by experienced striker James Collins, who is taking to the Championship like a duck to water, with the 28-year-old being a player that Bhundia has great admiration for.

Asked about how we would sum up the striker's form in the Championship so far, he said:

"Superb. Strikers are judged on goals, and a return of 5 goals in the opening 9 games really is a just reward for his excellent all round performances so far this season.

"Having scored 25 goals last season, there was no doubting that he had the quality to score goals in the Championship. It’s probably too early to say whether he’s improved, but he’s definitely a player built for the Championship."

Before going on to add:  "The Championship is such an intense, physical league, and Collins is definitely the type of forward who can succeed at this level. The intensity of his pressing and willingness to always trackback makes him a real all-rounder.

In addition, manager Graeme Jones always emphasises the importance of being flexible in the Championship, and Collins has shown his ability to adapt having been deployed as an out and out centre forward/number 10 and also in a role slightly wider in a front two."

Given the start that the former Shrewsbury Town man has made to the season, it will be interesting to see if he can continue his form in front of goal, particularly with a run of tough fixtures against the likes of Championship high flyers Bristol City and Fulham to come later this month.
