These are very exciting times at Villa Park with Dean Smith delivering a thrilling brand of attack focused football that looks set to fire Aston Villa up the table. 

The club have now scored 14 goals in their lost four games, winning three and drawing one, to put them in eighth place and just three points outside the top-six.

On Wednesday they made up one half of one of the games of the season as Smith's side drew 5-5 with fellow promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest at Villa Park.

Just a few days earlier they had convincingly seen off fierce rivals Birmingham City 4-2 in the Second City derby.

One of the club's most iconic goals of the last ten years was scored in that match as right-back Alan Hutton collected the ball inside his own half, beat five City players as he carried it all the way into the penalty area before finishing brilliantly.

It was a goal that secured the Scotsman a place in the club's illustrious derby day history and, unsurprisingly, the goal was brought up again on Friday as the experienced defender celebrated his 34th birthday.
