Millwall have joined the race to sign Allan Campbell, according to The Sun on Sunday (16/05/2021,p59).

The Motherwell midfielder could be set for a busy few weeks with his contract at the Scottish club set to expire at the end of the current season.

The 22-year-old is attracting substantial interest with Stoke City also said to be keen on a move for the talented player, who has played 40 times for Motherwell this term, scoring five goals in the process.

So would a move to The Den with Gary Rowett be a good move for Allan Campbell?

The team at FLW have their say...

George Dagless I think it's certainly worth a look. He seems like the sort of signing that Millwall make and get to do well so there's certainly an early suggestion that he could be a hit at the Lions. He's got good quality on the ball, is of the right age where he can really improve and won't break the bank given his contract status at his current club. I also think he adds to an area of the pitch that Millwall need to be addressing this summer window and so, for me, it ticks a lot of boxes initially. Certainly, he's a player that could come to the Championship and really enjoy a fruitful spell in England. Ben Wignall I can't profess to seeing much of Campbell for Motherwell, but the comments on social media about him tell you that he's an incredibly hard worker and a talented box-to-box midfielder - something that Millwall need. With Ryan Woods heading back to Stoke City after his loan spell, it's an area that the Lions could do with strengthening with both quality and quantity, as the likes of Mikael Kieftenbeld, Ryan Leonard, Ben Thompson and young Billy Mitchell won't be enough. I expected bigger teams to be in for Campbell to be honest and perhaps the Scottish giants of Rangers and Celtic as well, but this is the kind of player that Millwall need to be bringing in to try and get out of mid-table and in to the play-offs. I'd expect Millwall to beat off the current rumoured competition in Luton and Blackpool for his services but it's well-advertised now that Campbell is a free agent, so they may have to offer him something good to tempt him to The Den.

I think that this would be a fantastic move for Millwall. Allan Campbell is a player who looks like the next top talent to emerge from Scotland and establish themselves as a big player in the EFL. As well as his technical abilities, the 22-year-old is a proper grafter and that's something that could see him slot into life at The Den really well with supporters demanding full-blooded performances from their players. Given his age I think that the midfielder is going to get better and better and given that he's available on a a free transfer I think that this is a bit of a no-brainer for Gary Rowett. Competition will be fierce for his signature, but if a move to Millwall does come off then I think that it'll be a great deal.
