New Nottingham Forest manager Martin O'Neill heads into his first fixture in the City Ground hot-seat, when his side entertain Bristol City in the Championship this weekend.

O'Neill does not only have match preparation to contend with though, as with the transfer window open, he must move quickly to decide on who to bring in and who is surplus to requirements within his squad.

One player that O'Neill must consider is 29-year-old defensive midfielder Liam Bridcutt, who fell down the pecking order under previous manager Aitor Karanka.

Has the time come for Forest to offload Bridcutt in the next few weeks?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Much depends on how O’Neill sees it.

“If there’s going to be game time then perhaps not.

“Ben Watson could go out the door, leaving Bridcutt one step closer to the first XI.

“A new manager brings a new perspective, it’ll be a big call and one of the first O’Neill makes.”

Louie Chandler

"It would be much nicer if they sold him.

"Bridcutt is no longer a young, up and coming player. He is someone who should be playing at his peak.

"Sending him on loan won't make him happy."

Jay Taylor

“I think Martin O’Neill should have a look at the midfielder properly before deciding to move him on.

“It will take eight to ten days for the new Forest boss to suss out his players and know what he wants to do with them.

“So given he will want to assess every and all, I would give Bridcutt a stay of execution somewhat in regards to his time at the City Ground.”
