After three straight league wins, Bolton Wanderers were brought back down to earth in emphatic style on Saturday afternoon, as they were thrashed 7-1 away at local rivals Accrington Stanley.

Things had started brightly for Bolton, with Daryl Murphy putting Wanderers ahead inside five minutes, but things would take a turn for the worse with less than a quarter of an hour played, when Preston North End loanee Josh Earl was sent off for bringing down Dion Charles inside the area.

Colby Bishop dispatched the resulting penalty to level the scores, before heading Stanley into the lead ten minutes later.

John Coleman's side would then proceed to run riot, with Sean McConville and Offrande Zaznala both also netting braces, with Dion Charles also getting himself on the scoresheet.

The result means Bolton remain on just a single point at the foot of League One following their points deduction at the start of the season, with Keith Hill's side 15 adrift of safety.

Taking to Twitter after the game, plenty of Bolton fans appeared unimpressed with the decision to send Earl off, but were also far from happy with the all-round performance of their side regardless of that early dismissal.

Here, we take a look at what some of those fans had to say.
