West Ham's rollercoaster season has taken another turn for the worse over the last few weeks, and fresh media reports are suggesting the Hammers could be set to move for Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez.

Slaven Bilic's side have been seriously inconsistent at times this campaign and the up-and-down form has left many Hammers fans feeling a change might be necessary for the club to really go forward.

The switch to the Olympic Stadium has been a bumpy one and on-the-pitch, things haven't been that smooth either. But looking forward, it's clear that Rafa Benitez could be their number one target if they do decide to switch things up in East London.

But at this moment in time, there's no reason in the slightest for Rafa Benitez to go to West Ham and there's a number of reasons why too.

Firstly, the Spaniard is weeks away from restoring his side back into a Premier league outfit. Barring a horrific run of form in the next few weeks, the Toon will rejoin the likes of Leicester, Bournemouth and Watford in the Premier League after a pretty decent campaign in the second tier.

Granted, no Magpies fans wanted to suffer relegation but they've supported their players tremendously well both at St James' Park and away from home and it seems like Premier League football will be back in the North East next season.

Now, why on earth would Benitez jump ship when his side have every chance of doing damage in the top flight next season?

West Ham can also be a very poisonous place to be, both for players and managers.

You only have to look at the Dimitri Payet situation to see that things haven't been quite right at the club for some time now, and it's a situation that has escalated onto the paddocks too.

Supporters aren't happy, players aren't playing at their best and the manager is under pressure too. Would Benitez really cash-in on the job he's done at Newcastle to have that knocking at his door? Surely not.

Timing-wise, it's just not the move that Rafa Benitez needs right now. He's been doing a superb job in charge at the Toon and barring one minor blip with owner Mike Ashley, things have been pretty smooth.

And I imagine that's how all Newcastle United fans want it to stay too.
