Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a relatively good start to the 2017/18 campaign and although there is still some room for improvements, the style of play that boss Mark Warburton is wanting to play is beginning to click among the squad.

The Reds currently sit in ninth position in the Championship and after narrowly avoiding relegation last time around it has to be said that the current standings are about par for the course - if not slightly better.

One area of the squad that might be strengthened during the January transfer window is between the posts, with Warburton's summer-long search for a new stopper ending in failure.

Bournemouth had agreed to let Adam Federici sign loan terms at the City Ground before the August deadline but a recurrence of a long-standing knee concern scuppered the deal.

One man who could be targeted by the Reds during the forthcoming transfer window is Liverpool youngster Danny Ward, who performed so admirably at Huddersfield Town during last season.

The 24-year-old has just one appearance in the League Cup to his name this season whilst he has only made the squad on one other occasion earlier on in the campaign.

Given his age Ward could really do with some regular first-team football and the fact he isn't getting anywhere close to that right now could lead to a temporary switch away from Anfield in the summer.

The signing of such a competent stopper would be deemed as a real coup for Nottingham Forest and his presence between the posts could push the Reds on towards a play-off place.

Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome Ward to the club? Who else should be signed in January? Let us know in the comments below!!!
