Norwich City are keen on signing Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, after his outstanding season for the Whites.

The 23-year-old has improved significantly under Marcelo Bielsa and has established himself as one of the best players outside the Premier League.

However, that has prompted serious interest from top-flight clubs, with Football Insider revealing that the Canaries are trying to move ahead of Bournemouth and Southampton in the race for Phillips by placing a bid.

But, how big a setback would his departure be for Leeds?

Here our writers take a look...

George Harbey

"It would be a monumental blow for Leeds if they lost Phillips in the summer.

"A lot is said about Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe, and rightfully so, but I think that Phillips has been Leeds’ most important player this season.

"He is turned into a complete player under Bielsa, and would more than hold his own in the Premier League for a team like Norwich."

Toby Wilding

"This would be a blow for Leeds.

"Phillips has been a key player in their promotion push this season, and one they will surely want to keep for next season if they are to have any hope of challenging for the top tier again.

"It may be difficult to do that however if interest comes in from a Premier League side this summer, something which is looking increasingly likely."

Alfie Burns

"You can't underestimate how bad this could be for Leeds - Phillips is their best player!

"He's key to Bielsa's way of playing and 12 months of good work could be undone by his sale.

"For the club to progress next season and win promotion, you feel that they've got to keep Phillips at the club.

"For me, he's probably the only player in the side that's irreplaceable."
