The first half of the season has been a struggle at times for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, with injuries and suspensions to key personnel impacting on the Argentine's selections.

Despite this though, Leeds sit on top of the Championship table, two points clear of nearest rivals Norwich City at the mid point in the season.

Bielsa will be full of optimism as well, that with a player like Gaetano Berardi due back from injury in February, his side will be strengthened as it gets to the business end of the season.

So will the return of Berardi be a boost for Leeds?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

It will be a big boost for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

And it can’t come soon enough.

Leeds have lost three in a row for the first time this season having been knocked out the FA Cup this past weekend.

And they could do with one of their main defenders back to help alleviate the pressure they currently have at the back and sure up a defence that has let in too many goals by their standards.

Getting through the rest of January will be a test, but once Berardi is back fit I can see him being a key man for Leeds.

Chris Gallagher

A massive boost.

The Whites are desperately short of numbers defensively and it's starting to cost them.

Whilst Berardi wouldn't be in the first XI, he can play across the back four and will be a welcome boost for Bielsa.

George Dagless

Leeds fans will be pleased.

There plenty of games to come in January but at least once that is over a key defender will be back in the side.

He's been good this year under Bielsa and will be welcome back.
