‘A lot of people have forgotten’ – These Stoke fans discuss player departure

Stoke City have confirmed that goalkeeper Jack Butland has left the club to join Premier League side Crystal Palace on a permanent basis.

Despite his form for the Potters once being enough to establish him as an England regular, a string of costly errors since the club’s relegation to the Championship have seen Butland drop down the pecking order at the Bet365 Stadium.

Now, Butland’s time with Stoke has come to an end, after Palace completed a deadline day move to bring the goalkeeper to Selhurst Park, reportedly paying an initial £1million fee for the 27-year-old.

Butland has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Palace, securing his future at the London club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

In total, Butland made 168 appearances in all competitions for Stoke – keeping 50 clean sheets – having joined the club from Birmingham City back in the summer of 2018.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Butland’s departure, plenty of Stoke fans were keen to have their say on news of the goalkeeper’s latest move.

Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
