After spending the 2015/16 season on loan at Ipswich Town, young Arsenal man Ainsley Maitland-Niles returned to the Gunners with the hope of breaking into the first team at the Emirates Stadium.

The youngster made four starts across the FA and League Cup this season, but will feel that his first team chances have been extremely limited this season.

Having headed to the prestigious Toulon Tournament as England U20 captain, Maitland-Niles will look to next season with aspirations of first team football, and a loan move to the Championship seems like a likely option next term.

The youngster is extremely versatile, and can play in both midfield and on the right side of the back four, making him a very enticing option to manager’s across the division.

The 19-year-old’s future will be decided upon his return from Toulon, and many clubs will be vying for his signature before the end of August.

One side where Maitland-Niles may truly fulfil his potential is Leeds United, who will undoubtedly harbour aspirations of a top six finish having missed out this season in the dying stages of the campaign.

Leeds are currently without a manager after the departure of Garry Monk, and the new boss will come into the club looking to make a few quality additions to his already talented squad.

Maitland-Niles could be the perfect, hungry young addition to the squad at Elland Road, and would complement the number of young stars already on the books at the Yorkshire club.

Acquiring a young England captain would be a fantastic start to the reign of the new boss, and would be an excellent statement of intent ahead of the new season.
