A key member of Scunthorpe’s side.. Is this star worthy of the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award?

The nominees for the Bristol Street Motors PFA Player of the Month award in League One have been announced, and Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Matthew Gilks features on the list.

Gilks is joined by Wigan’s Dan Burn, Charlton’s Ricky Holmes, Peterborough’s Jack Marriott, Rotherham’s Kieffer Moore and Blackburn’s Charlie Mulgrew on the shortlist for August/September.

Gilks, 35, has been a rock for the Iron in between the sticks so far this season and has kept seven clean sheets in what has been a relatively strong start for Scunthorpe.

The veteran goalkeeper has made 13 appearances this season, and has contributed to Scunthorpe having one of the best defensive records in the division.
