Bradford City were certainly active in the January transfer window, with plenty of incomings and outgoings from the League Two side.

There had been pressure on Gary Bowyer in recent weeks, and that pressure proved too much as Bradford recently announced that they had parted company with Bowyer.

But the Valley Parade faithful will be hoping that the January additions can make a positive impact as they look to win promotion back into League One at the first time of asking this season.

In our latest FLW Six Pointer, we assess Bradford City's January transfer window in more detail.

Which players arrived at Valley Parade in January?

"Bradford made a number of signings in the New Year, with some standing out more than others.

"Dylan Motley-Henry arrived from Barnsley, whilst Luke McGee signed on loan from League One promotion-chasers Portsmouth to add some much-needed depth between the posts this term.

"Kurtis Guthrie signed from relegation-threatened Stevenage, whilst Lee Novak arrived on Deadline Day from Scunthorpe United.

"Bradford also completed a deal to sign Glenn Middleton on loan for the remainder of the season from Scottish giants Rangers.

"Chris Taylor signed for the Bantams on a short-term deal, as they look to win promotion into League One this season."

Which players left Bradford last month?

"It's safe to say that there were some high-profile exits from Valley Parade in January.

"Eoin Doyle briefly returned to the club, but soon made his loan move to Swindon Town a permanent one, which won't have gone down too well with the Valley Parade faithful.

"James Vaughan left the club to join Tranmere Rovers on loan until the end of this year's campaign, whilst Sam Hornby extended his loan with National League side AFC Fylde.

"Matt Palmer's loan with the Bantams expired, as he went on to join Swindon Town for the rest of this season, with Omari Patrick also leaving the club to join Carlisle United."

Why did Bowyer allow Doyle and Vaughan to leave the club?

"Swindon Town were long-term admirers of Doyle, and it didn't come as much of a surprise to see the in-form forward depart in favour of a permanent move to the Robins.

"Vaughan's loan move was a surprising one though, as he made the step up to League One with Tranmere Rovers, who are fighting to retain their status in the third tier.

"You have to imagine that something went on behind the scenes in regards to both deals, as either one of Doyle and Vaughan would have been key to firing Bradford to potential promotion this season."

Could Doyle have had a role to play in Bradford's promotion bid this season?

"Absolutely.

"Doyle's goal record this season speaks for itself, and I think he would have been the ideal striker to fire them straight back into League One this season.

"I think the Bantams have made a huge mistake in selling him to another club, especially when that team is League Two promotion rivals Swindon Town.

"He could be the difference between automatic promotion and a place in the play-offs, and I think Bradford will regret letting him depart in January."

Is Lee Novak a good enough replacement for Doyle?

"It's difficult to pass judgement on this deal.

"Novak has scored six goals this season for Scunthorpe United, and has a relatively strong record in front of goal in League Two earlier in his career.

"But there is no getting away from the fact that Doyle has a hugely impressive goal record in the fourth tier this season, with 24 goals so far this term with Swindon Town.

"I think Novak will be a good addition to the Bradford squad, and he'll do a job for them this season as they look to make a swift return to League One."

Will Bradford be challenging for promotion into League One this season after this recent transfer window?

"I still think that Bradford have enough about them to challenge for promotion into League One this season.

"They've still got a number of experienced players in their squad, and they've signed the right players in this month's transfer window.

"The likes of Lee Novak know where the back of the net is at this level, and the likes of Luke McGee are strong signings for a team that are in the fourth tier of English football.

"The new manager needs to get the best out of these players in the near future though, otherwise Bradford will surely miss out on a top-seven finish in League Two this season."
