Nottingham Forest kicked off their transfer action earlier this week by bringing in Michael Dawson from Hull City.

It means the defender has returned to the club where he first really got going as a pro and it’ll certainly be interesting to see how he gets on.

Will he prove a success? We take a look…

Alfie Burns

He certainly brings that experience to Forest’s defence, which has been missing for some time.

Paired with Joe Worrall, who is still a long way off his potential, gives Forest’s supporters something to be excited about.

I can see Dawson playing a crucial role under Karanka. A great deal!

Jay Williams

Dawson is a short-term solution to the defensive problems and this seems like a good move for him and the club.

The veteran defender is able to complete a fairy-tale return to his first club while Forest will benefit from his experience, leadership and solidity for the next year or two. I also believe he will play a strong role in developing and mentoring Joe Worrall and getting the young defender back to his best again.

Chris Gallagher

I’m not so sure.

He will certainly add something to the group, off the pitch in particular but is he good enough for a side wanting to win promotion?

Hull had an awful defensive record and he was a key player for them.

Ben Barkworth

Dawson will be a good defensive partner for Tobias Figueiredo due to his reliability and experience, so this move makes sense for Forest as they prepare for a top six push under Aitor Karanka.
