Recently, Teamtalk reported that Celtic have launched a bid to get Patrick Roberts back at the club as they look to strengthen their squad for a run at a tenth title in a row.

The Hoops are Scottish champions in all but name again this season, and summer planning has already been thought of evidently.

Indeed, they're apparently looking to get Roberts back in with the winger currently on loan at Middlesbrough having never really found the form he had with the Bhoys since leaving Celtic Park.

And, by the sounds of it, the Hoops now want him for keeps from Manchester City, with Noel Whelan telling Football Insider it would be a good move if it happened.

The former forward said:

“I think it would be a good move. I think he’d be relishing the chance to show what he can do after being away. I think that would be a good opportunity.

“I’m sure Celtic wouldn’t be interested unless they really thought that he was the player they expected.”

The Verdict

If Celtic can get him back in and he can perform to the level he was at when he was there the first time, it is a no-brainer of a move for all involved.

Roberts is a very talented player - he showed that at Celtic and also at Fulham as a kid.

He just needs a move to help him get back to his best and this could well be the one that allows him to do that - providing it happens.
