Bolton Wanderers are keeping an eye on Burton Albion striker Victor Adeboyejo's situation late on in this January transfer window.

As detailed in a Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon, the Trotters are looking to take advantage of the fact that Wigan Athletic are stalling in their approach to sign the 25-year-old.

A further update from Football Insider has revealed that Bolton are preparing a bid for the striker who already has 13 goals to his name this season.

However, that same report claimed that Millwall are now in pursuit and like Bolton, are preparing to test Burton's resilience with an offer.

Three of our writers here at FLW have shared their thoughts on the in-form League One striker and have decided whether or not a move to Bolton would represent good business...

It is an interesting situation because, of course, the Trotters need to strengthen their attacking options and Adeboyejo does seem to fit the ball almost perfectly, however, it would appear that Ian Evatt wants an experienced head to arrive at The University of Bolton Stadium.

The Burton forward has managed to consistently cause problems for opposing defences in an underperforming team, and you would think, if he was to make the move to Bolton, he could thrive with that little bit more quality around him.

Scoring goals has been a cause for concern for Evatt this season and Adeboyejo's record this season seemingly makes him a good option to consider.

He is also a physical presence who would be able to link up well with Dion Charles, whilst he has the desire and determination to match his on-the-ball work.

I think this would represent excellent business and would bolster Bolton's promotion chances, however, with two Championship clubs involved in his pursuit, it may be a difficult one to pull off.

Adeboyejo would be a great signing for Bolton.

While there may be question marks about whether he is capable of making the step up to Championship level, there is no doubt about his League One prowess after his impressive return of 11 league goals so far this season in a struggling Burton side.

Ian Evatt's need for attacking reinforcements to ease the burden on Dion Charles has long been evident, exacerbated by Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's season-ending injury.

Adeboyejo would be the perfect answer to Evatt's problems and you would not bet against him becoming even more prolific in the third tier when being provided with service by some of the Trotters' creative threats.

It would be something of a coup for Wanderers to land Adeboyejo's signature ahead of the reported Championship competition and if he can replicate his form shown at the Pirelli Stadium, he could be a game-changer in their promotion push.

With the sale of Dapo Afolayan, Bolton Wanderers are likely to have a bit of cash to spend.

If they were to bring in Victor Adeboyejo with it, you'd have to say it would be a very good addition.

The 25-year-old has been in fine form for Burton Albion this campaign and looks a real threat at League One level these days.

Signing him, then, would boost Bolton's play-off hopes in the third tier, with the club currently fifth in League One and looking to secure a top six spot.

With Championship side Millwall for competition, though, it's going to be tough to convince the player that a move to Bolton is better than one to The Den.
