Middlesbrough are considering Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley as a replacement for Tony Pulis, according to Nick Mashiter.

Pulis parted company with the club this morning, after failing to guide them to promotion to the Premier League this season.

Middlesbrough are thought to be considering Cowley as a potential replacement for Pulis, who has won two promotions in the three seasons with Lincoln.

West Brom are still looking for a permanent manager after sacking Darren Moore in March and are also reportedly interested in Cowley.

So, would Cowley be a good appointment for Middlesbrough?

We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"This would be an interesting one.

"Cowley is a proven winner and would certainly be a gamble for Boro given that he hasn't got any experience of managing in the Championship.

"A gamble that simply isn't needed, especially when they need someone with proven experience of getting teams into the Premier League."

Toby Wilding

"This would certainly be an exciting appointment to follow Pulis with.

"Cowley has worked absolute wonders with Lincoln and you feel it may only be a matter of time until he steps further up the pyramid.

"Middlesbrough may therefore be keen to seal his services before anyone else does and it would be interesting to see how he handles the step up.

"If he can cope with it well enough, there seems to be little reason why they can't plan for another play-off push at minimum next season."

George Brooks

"Cowley is a very good manager and has done an excellent job at Lincoln over the past few seasons.

"He's got no experience of managing in the Championship though, so his appointment would have to be considered a risk for Middlesbrough.

"The expectations are also much higher at a club like Middlesbrough and West Brom, so it will be very interesting to see Cowley handles the pressure if he does succeed Pulis at the Riverside."
