Plenty of Sunderland fans have taken to social media calling for manager Phil Parkinson to be sacked, following the Black Cats' defeat at Gillingham in League One this afternoon.

Sunderland were beaten 1-0 at the at Priestfield Stadium - thanks to an 89th-minute winner from Connor Ogilvie.

The Black Cats reached the play-off final under Jack Ross last season and were one of the favourites to challenge for automatic promotion this campaign, but their defeat this afternoon has left them eleventh in the League One table.

Sunderland are now without a win in their last six matches in all competitions and have won just two of their twelve games since Parkinson replaced Ross in charge at the Stadium of Light in mid-October.

Plenty of Sunderland fans took to social media after the Gillingham defeat this afternoon to react to result and many fans were calling for Parkinson to be sacked, less than two months after he took charge of the club.
