Birmingham City are currently enduring a season to forget this season as they currently occupy 21st spot in the Sky Bet Championship table.
Over the years, the Blues have also had a number of signings to forget.
We at FLW have issued our verdicts on Birmingham’s worst signing in the last five years…..
Kerim Frei, he was a disastrous addition at St Andrew’s, who cost Birmingham a considerable amount of money.
Frei arrived last January, and was part of the Birmingham squad that plummeted towards the relegation zone under Gianfranco Zola last season, before narrowly avoiding relegation.
The midfielder never featured under Harry Redknapp as he guided Birmingham to safety, which says it all.
Good in the lower leagues, Birmingham gambled on Green and, unfortunately for both, it didn’t work out.
He spent two years at St. Andrew’s but made just ten appearances before moving on once more – It really was a shocking move for all concerned.
He’s still playing down in League 2 with Lincoln City and is scoring so it looks as though that is his level.
Given the cost, Diego Fabbrini.
Blues were running a tight ship for many years and the signing of Fabbrini in 2016 for £1.5m was the biggest fee the club had paid in five years.
That’s why he has to be considered one of the worst signings in recent years. The Italian should’ve made a big impression at St. Andrew’s but for one reason or another it didn’t work.
He spent last season at Spezia and joined Real Oviedo for this campaign.
