Derby County have got their season off to a solid start in their first full semester under Gary Rowett, with the Rams sitting comfortably in eighth place after four rounds of fixtures.

With just days remaining in the summer window, Rowett is running out of time to put the finishing touches to squad, and fans can expect one or two new faces at Pride Park before the window slams shut in the near future.

Four goals in four games isn’t the return that some fans will have hoped for, and there may be cries to add to the club’s attacking output in the coming days.

A new striker could be on the agenda for Rowett’s men, and the former Birmingham boss should perhaps consider testing Brighton’s resolve with a bid for Israeli forward, Tomer Hemed.

The 30-year-old has impressed for the Seagulls since joining the club from Almeria, and has 28 league goals to his name across two seasons on the south coast.

11 goals last year helped Brighton to the Premier League, and having appeared in both of the club’s opening two fixtures this term, manager Chris Hughton may be keen to keep him at the Amex beyond the end of the summer.

Hemed is yet to find the net in the top flight, indeed so are his club as a whole, and their lack of prowess in their opening two fixtures may hinder Derby’s chances of securing a deal for the impressive forward.

However, Hughton will have plans of his own to implement before the close of the window, and if a striker were to come in, Hemed could possibly be allowed to leave.

The striker would be a wonderful signing for the Rams, and Gary should carefully monitor the situation on the south coast to see whether Hemed becomes available in the coming days.
