Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie has reacted to the news that Baggies Chief Executive Mark Jenkins will take a 100% pay cut, amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

For the whole duration of the lockdown, Jenkins has agreed to take a full pay cut to help teh financial stability of the club during these challenging times.

And former Baggies man Quashie is not surprised in the slightest by Jenkins' selfless actions, tweeting the following:

It's evident that Jenkins is someone who will take sacrifices himself to ensure the safeguarding of the club in the short-term during this time.

The Baggies are considering the government's job retention scheme, with Jenkins saying the following on the matter: “Like many other clubs. we have considered using a Furlough approach with non-playing staff who are now unable to work owing to the lock-down and we have made plans for this eventuality.

“At present we have not been required to sanction this action, but if the lockdown continues and football remains ‘on-hold’ then this decision may have to be changed. What we will pledge is to ensure none of the staff effected suffer a reduction in pay; the Club will make up the 20 per cent shortfall not covered by the Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Other members of the senior management at the Hawthorns are also set to take 'significant' pay cuts in order to help combat the financial difficulties the pandemic brings.

The EFL has been suspended indefinitely with no return date set until it is safe to do so, with the health and safety of the United Kingdom of paramount importance at this time.
