Football League World's Brentford fan pundit Joshua Koffman believes that Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria could be the perfect Romaine Sawyers replacement at Griffin Park.

The Liverpool Echo linked the youngster with a permanent move to the Bees as Liverpool look to offload him and, after impressing with Reading last season, Koffman sees it as a smart move.

"This would be a very interesting signing for Brentford and could prove to be the perfect replacement for Romaine Sawyers," he said.

"He really impressed at Reading on loan at the back end of last season and showed that there’s a real talented player in there and no doubt Brentford would be the ideal club to bring that quality out of him.

"He looks technically excellent on the ball and, with Thomas Frank’s possession and quick passing style of play, he would suit the way we play perfectly."

Sawyers has been heavily linked with a move away from West London this summer, with both West Brom and Celtic seeing bids rejected for him.

After moving to Reading during the January transfer until the end of season, Ejaria became a key part of Jose Gomes's side, racking up 16 appearance, scoring once and assisting two more.

According to the recent report, if Frank wants to land the 21-year-old permanently, he will have to persuade the powers that be to part with around £3.5million.

But Koffman believes that the asking price is more than reasonable for a club in Brentford's position.

"The £3.5 million that’s being touted would seem reasonable," he said.

"Considering the amount of money Brentford have recouped from recent player sales, and the potential that Ejaria has means that in the proceeding transfer windows, his value is likely to rise significantly.

"This would be a deal I’d be keen to see done, as his versatility would be welcome at Griffin Park."
