Aston Villa head into the busy Christmas schedule with Dean Smith's side sitting in eighth place in the Championship, and on a run of form that could see the Villans into the play-off places for the New Year.

One player though who has struggled to get a look-in under Smith is 28-year-old midfielder Henri Lansbury who has only one appearance to his name for Villa this season, though one of the main reasons behind this, has been the player's struggles with injury.

So is it time for Henri Lansbury to leave Aston Villa?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

The last two years have just been a complete waste of time.

Lansbury needs to get out of Villa Park next month or his career is just going to nosedive.

There’s a good player in there, but we’ve not seen it in claret and blue.

Even if he has to take a hit on his wages, it must be done to restart his career.

Gary Hutchinson

It was time for a move last season.

He’s at least seen the bench under Dean Smith, but there’s no first team spot there.

He needs someone like Bolton or Rotherham to pick him up.

A side where he’d be a big cheese, not a little bit of left-over cracker.

Jay Taylor

I think so.

He hasn’t had the greatest of times under either manager this season.

One cup appearance and a ten-minute cameo under Dean Smith before coming off injured.

It’s bad luck for Henri Lansbury but game time doesn’t seem forthcoming at Villa Park, and a new club and a new challenge could help rejuvenate his career.

George Harbey

He’s got to move in January.

With Bjarnason returning from injury and Villa looking at new midfielders, his game time is likely to decrease.

His career has surprisingly stagnated since he signed for Villa.
