David Norris has admitted he looks back on his time at Leeds United fondly, despite the midfielder enduring a tough time of things during his spell at Elland Road.

Leeds have been out of the Premier League since 2004, and Norris is one of those players to have passed through the club in that time, featuring in white between 2012 and 2015.

During his time at Leeds he was managed by Neil Warnock, Brian McDermott, Dave Hockaday, Neil Redfearn and Darko Milanic, with a huge overturn of managers underlining the Whites’ struggles in the Championship.

For Norris, it was hard to pick out a standout moment from his three years in West Yorkshire.

“It’s always a team that I look back fondly to have played for, because it’s a club of such stature, but it wasn’t my best club personally for various different reasons,” the 38-year-old told Football League World’s Chief Editor, Sam Rourke.

“However, it is one of them where I look back and go ‘Wow I played for Leeds United, scored for Leeds United, got to captain Leeds United’. – I look back at it in that way.”

Despite not enjoying his best spell of his career during his time at Leeds, there were positives for Norris, with the Elland Road atmosphere something that stood out, as well as a goal against Huddersfield Town, in an impressive 4-2 victory.

He continued: “I remember the first game of the season when I’d signed, against Wolves, and the atmosphere stands out. I remember just thinking ‘If we can do something this year, this is going to be unbelievable’.

“I scored against Huddersfield, which was nice, because that was like a rival game, but the moment that stands out was that home game with Wolves.”

In total, Norris managed 36 appearances for Leeds and scored four goals from midfield.
