Oxford United have endured a tough start to the season, with Karl Robinson's side down in 20th spot in League One.

The pressure is on U's manager Karl Robinson ahead of the visit of fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers to start putting some distance between themselves and the three sides at the foot of the table.

So is Robinson already on thin ice at Oxford United?

We discuss........

George Harbey

“I don’t think that it would be an over exaggeration to say that he’s on thin ice, not at all.

“They got off to an okay start to the season, but their form has declined massively, and one win from their first seven games doesn’t make for good reading.

“They come up against Tranmere and Bolton in their next two games which are looking like crunch matches for United, and Robinson will be fancying his side’s chances of picking up some points.

“With the players he brought into the club in the summer, he needs time to get to grips with his squad, and they will hope to push up the table fairly soon.”

Toby Wilding

"I think he could be.

"Robinson's record at the Kassam Stadium is far from spectacular, given they looked to be locked in a relegation battle for so much of last season, the fact that they have started this season poorly as well will surely be a concern.

"Having brought in no fewer than 12 new players during the summer transfer window, it isn't as though Robinson can say he hasn't been backed in market, and you feel he will have to start getting a response from those players soon.

"With fellow strugglers Tranmere and Bolton to come in their next two league games, Robinson now has a good opportunity to alleviate some of the pressure on himself with a couple of wins here, although I would be worried for his future at Oxford if he doesn't take that chance."

George Brooks

"I think he could be. If he isn't at the moment, he certainly will be if results don't improve soon.

"If you don't get off to a good start, people will begin to ask questions. It might seem harsh, but that's the way it is in football these days.

"It hasn't been a great start to the season for Oxford, they've won just once in the league all season and the performances haven't been the best.

"Robinson is now under a lot of pressure to deliver results and if he's unable to turn things around quickly, the club might be forced into making a decision - whether it would be the right one or not is a different matter.

"Oxford have got some favourable fixtures coming up where they should be able to pick up a few points, if they don't, Robinson could be in trouble."
