Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi will be making the finishing touches to his squad ahead of the big kick-off in the Championship this weekend, though midfielder Gboly Ariyibi looks like he will not be part of his immediate plans, with Rotherham United keen on taking the 24-year-old on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

Ariybi has been at the City Ground since January 2017 but is yet to make an appearance, spending the second half of last season on-loan in the SPFL with Motherwell.

So would Ariybi be a good addition at the New York Stadium?

We discuss........

Chris Gallagher

"This would be a very exciting signing for Rotherham.

"Paul Warne needs some new additions to help his squad and pace is needed for out wide, which is exactly what Ariyibi would bring.

"The 24-year-old loves to run at players, is direct in his style and should be a major threat down the flank for the Millers, who need more creativity in the side.

"He hasn't always convinced out on loan but he has shown flashes of his talent over the years, so a permanent move where he plays regularly could be exactly what he needs to get his career going and he has the potential to be a star in the third tier."

George Dagless

"Potentially.

"It's pretty clear that he doesn't have much of a future at Forest as things stand and so it would be wise for him to move on if he can.

"Rotherham are going to be challenging at the right end of League One this year I would have thought and it is evident that Paul Warne will want his team to be on the front foot in games.

"Ariyibi could well be a key part in them imposing themselves on games, then, but he must show that he is ready to work hard and grasp any opportunity afforded to him."

George Harbey

“I personally think that there are better options out there for Rotherham than Ariyibi.

“He hasn’t played an awful lot of games over the last few years, and his time at the City Ground has been nothing short of disastrous.

“He enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Motherwell last season, but playing for a team like Rotherham, who are bound to be chasing promotion from League One next season, is different.

“He didn’t really set the world alight whilst at MK Dons and Northampton, but I suppose that it’s worth a risk.”
