Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland may have an exit route from the bet365 Stadium in January, if Norwich City launch a bid to take the England stopper, though the Potters asking price could cause a stumbling block, it is reported by Alan Nixon in the Sun.

The Canaries would be prepared to pay £12-15million for the 26-year-old but that falls somewhere short of the Potters £25million valuation of the player, who was rested at the weekend following a number of high profile mistakes.

So would a switch to Carrow Road be a good move for the keeper?

We discuss........

Louie Chandler

"I think it is as good a move that he can hope for.

"A few seasons ago, it would not have been a surprise to see a top-six side make a move for the shot-stopper, however his stock will have fallen sharply recently.

"A series of howlers last season and in his opening 2019/20 appearances will have made a number of clubs reconsider a move, especially for the price he is valued at.

"If Norwich come in with a good enough offer, Butland would be a fool not to leave."

Toby Wilding

"It does have the potential to be.

"With the way both Butland's individual performances, and those of the club as a whole, have been recently, it does seem as though both parties could suit from a parting of the ways.

"You do feel that Norwich's position as a Premier League side would make them an attractive option to Butland, who does appear keen on a return to the top tier in order to give himself the best possible chance of forcing his way back into the England side.

"That being said, with the window not open to Premier League clubs again until January, and Norwich one of those sides among the favourites for a quick return to the Championship - even if they have started life back in the top tier impressively - you do wonder that could mean this would risk being a brief return to the Premier League for Butland."

Dean Cooke

"I think Jack Butland signing for Norwich would be a good move for the Canaries, as it will push Tim Krul even more. However, for the keeper himself, he has to be number one.

"He wants to be playing for England, and with the emergence of Dean Henderson and Angus Gunn, there's a slim chance that he'd stay in the squad if he was a number two for his club. He needs to be playing regularly to have any chance of retaining his England space.

"Although, on the other hand, he needs a fresh headspace as recently at Stoke he hasn't looked like the usual keeper that we know he can be."
