Despite the new Championship season being upon us, Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is still looking to add to his squad, with Charlton Athletic defender Anfernee Dijksteel a target, according to Bristol Live journalist Gregor MacGregor on Twitter.

The 22-year-old Dutchman played an important part in the Addicks' promotion season, operating as a right full-back or further forward on the right-hand side of midfield, throughout the course of the campaign.

But would Dijksteel be a good signing for the Robins? Do they need him?

We discuss........

Ben Lang

"This would be a really good signing for the Robins if they could get it over the line, as they'd be getting an exciting player with great potential.

"Dijksteel was a revelation during his breakthrough season at The Valley and I think his pace and strength means he would cope well in the Championship.

"He is sometimes prone to an error or two, but I can see him benefitting from the step up in quality this season, rather than letting that hinder him. His versatility also means he is exactly the kind of player Johnson will want in his City squad.

"He would be a strong option for the Robins next season, while signing him would also be a real statement of intent with Boro also in the mix."

George Dagless

"Potentially.

"He's a good runner and bombs forward and showed that aplenty for Charlton last season in League One.

"The Addicks surely want to keep him but the Robins have the clout to try and get him and it would provide another bit of strength to a side that looks good to challenge for the top six.

"Can Lee Johnson get this side settled and playing how he wants quickly? If he can they are going to be a real force to be reckoned with."

Louie Chandler

"This would be a very smart signing for the Robins.

"At the moment they are definitely light on the right-hand side of defence, with Jack Hunt still the only real option, so it will be encouraging to the fans to see Johnson looking to strengthen in that area.

"Dijksteel would add some serious competition and also fit seamlessly into the way in which Johnson likes to set his teams up.

"The Dutchman was a menace down the right-wing for the Addicks, especially in the latter half of the season, and is the sort of positive addition the Robins have been making all summer."
