Assembling his squad at Sheffield Wednesday for a season where the lofty expectations are unlikely to waver, Darren Moore will certainly be looking to use the transfer market to great effect.

However, one current Wednesday player who will be eager to see more regular game time next season is Jaden Brown, with the 23-year-old being restricted to fewer than 700 third-tier minutes last time out.

The left-back arrived from Huddersfield Town at the start of the season but has been unable to kick on as he would have hoped.

Answering what he thinks the future looks like for the young defender, Carlton Palmer told FLW: "He's got to just show Darren Moore what he can do from the start and push hard to get in the side.

"As I say, every player that turns up in pre-season starts with a clean slate and it's how you can impress the manager and the coaching staff in pre-season to be part of the starting lineup."

The verdict

Pre-season is an excellent opportunity for Brown to try and force his way back into Moore's plans, and just because the last season did not pan out as planned, it does not mean the next has to follow suit.

Still just 23 years of age, there is certainly scope for the young defender to reach his much higher ceiling, so as Palmer points out, it is now about looking to impress in pre-season to pave his way into Moore's thinking.

Proving to be a left-sided player who can operate within a solid back four, and slightly more advanced as a wing-back, Brown is someone who could meet the demands of whatever next season throws at him.
