‘A class act’, ‘What a man’ – These Derby County fans react to club update involving high-profile figure

Derby County have confirmed that Steve McClaren has stepped down from his role as Technical Director to try and save other jobs, but he will continue to work for the club on a part-time basis.

The 60-year-old has held various positions at the club over the years, including as a player, coach and boss. And, he was appointed in his latest position almost 12 months ago.

However, with the Rams entering administrations, tough decisions were going to be made, and it was announced last night that McClaren was stepping down as Technical Director.

Interestingly, the club added that this was initiated by the former England manager, who is looking to do his bit to try and preserve other jobs.

That gesture, combined with the fact that McClaren will still be involved in the process moving forward, meant the news was hugely appreciated by the support.
