Stephen Warnock has heaped praise on Watford star Ismaila Sarr, describing him as 'a class act'.

The Hornets wrapped up promotion to the Premier League after picking up a 1-0 victory over Millwall at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

That result ensured that the club made an immediate return to the top flight after suffering relegation last term.

The man who got the decisive goal against the Lions was Ismaila Sarr - a player who has really showed his quality for Xisco Munoz's side over the duration of this season.

So far this term the 23-year-old has scored 13 goals and created 10 more his teammates, establishing himself as one of the Championship's most complete performers.

One man who has been watching him closely is former Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers defender Stephen Warnock who believes that the winger justified the reported that emerged around the player last summer.

Speaking to EFL On Quest, Warnock said: “A £40 million player playing in the Championship, many people turned there nose up at it, and there was talk of him moving in the summer, Liverpool and many others interested.

“He’s turned it on this season, been a class act, scored 13 goals, lots of contributions.”

The verdict

There's no doubt that Ismaila Sarr has been wonderful this term.

Watford needed a player to lead from the front and secure victories on his own and the winger has certainly been able to do just that.

Sarr is a Premier League-level player and so it'll be great to see him back in the top flight next term.
