Stoke City have had an awful start to the season as they sit bottom of the Championship failing to record a victory after seven games.

Nathan Jones has been speculated about in recent weeks, and despite yet another loss to Bristol City on Saturday, the former Luton manager is still in his job.

It's a wonder how much time the Potters will give him, but it's certainly not going well at the bet365 Stadium. The side have been close to earning more points but crucial moments in games have ended up as turning points in the outcome of results.

On Saturday, Stoke took the lead after just four minutes thanks to a goal from Sam Clucas. However, just under ten minutes later, Joe Allen was issued a red card that meant that the Potters were left playing the next 80 minutes with a man less than their opposition.

This eventually took its toll on the side and they went onto lose the game courtesy of two second-half goals from Lee Johnson's men.

The Potters now have a really big decision to make even though it's early in the season. Stoke have two really big games coming up, but they aren't just huge for Nathan Jones, they're also tough fixtures that could result in even more trouble for the club in terms of where they want to come in the division this season.

Coming up in the next few weeks, they play Brentford and Nottingham Forest, you have to feel that a defeat in either one of them would lead to a change of manager from the Stoke City board.

It would be a long way back for the Potters if they were still sitting bottom at the end of September, seven or so points from safety, so it's vital that if they want to do anything this season, a change of manager is needed now.

You can't fault Jones' commitment to turn things around, you can potentially fault his signings and some of his tactical decisions but there's not been any man at the club who has wanted to turn around the fortunes of Stoke more than Nathan Jones.

Sometimes it happens at a club where it just doesn't work out, and this seems to be the case at Stoke. It's better to resolve the issue sooner, rather than later.
