Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi faces disappointment in his latest transfer dealings after Everton striker Oumar Niasse rejected a move to the City Ground, after his club had accepted an offer for the Senegalese international, according to a report by Football Insider.

Niasse, 29, has been at Goodison Park since February 2016, but has only made 31 appearances, having spent time out on-loan at both Hull City and Cardiff City.

But would Niasse have been a good addition at the City Ground, if he had made the switch to Forest?

“Niasse could’ve been an ideal addition for Forest.

“With Rafa Mir sent back to Wolves after an unsuccessful loan spell, the Reds need to bring in some cover for Grabban.

“Grabban is the first choice but what the Reds need is someone to come on as an impact sub or provide cover for him.

“Niasse could provide just that. The 29-year-old has scored goals at Premier League level and has got the

“He would’ve been a fantastic asset but they must now switch their attention to finding another option.”

“This is unquestionably a blow for Forest who have yet to add to their strike force since cutting ties with Rafa Mir earlier this month.

“Whilst Niasse has struggled for consistency at Premier League level throughout his time at Everton, he could have been a viable back-up option for Lewis Grabban at the City Ground.

“However, with the forward opting to turn down a move to Forest, Sabri Lamouchi will now have to look elsewhere for inspiration in the coming weeks.

“Providing that the Frenchman is able to get his recruitment spot on between now and the end of January, he could potentially guide the Reds to a top-six finish in the Championship in May.”

"I don't think Niasse would have been a good signing for Forest if he chose to accept the loan move to the City Ground.

"It is no secret that Forest are in need of another striker, and whilst they definitely need to bring one in before the end of the transfer window, they need to ensure that they are bringing in the right player.

"Niasse has been nowhere near good enough or prolific enough since making the move to England, and has endured tough spells at the likes of Everton and Cardiff City.

"It could turn out to be the same situation as Rafa Mir - if Grabban picks up an injury, then I don't believe that Niasse would have been the player to step up and score 5 or 6 goals between now and the end of the season.

"Just because they were offered the player doesn't mean they must take him, as that is the easy way out."
