Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be the favourites to land QPR star Ebere Eze once the summer transfer window opens, according to The Sun, with the 21-year-old midfielder one of the Championship's standout performers, so far this season.

Eze has racked up 12 goals and eight assists in what has been a mixed season for QPR and despite a £20m price tag, Spurs look prepared to pay up as they recognise their need for more midfield depth.

So would Spurs be a good move for Eze's development?

We discuss.........

Chris Gallagher

"Not at all.

"In fact, it's probably one of the worst clubs he could go to when you look at Jose Mourinho's track record with young, attacking players. We've seen recently how he has been reluctant to play Troy Parrott despite their injury crisis up top and it's hard for younger players to earn his trust.

"Whilst he does work hard, Eze benefits from being given freedom in the team and you can't imagine he would get that at Spurs. Plus, he needs to be playing regularly and the reality is that the North London outfit have so many quality options in those attacking midfield and wide positions.

"So, the 21-year-old needs to find a club that will play him regularly and there are better options out there for Eze than Spurs, even if they won't be as big a club."

"If you had asked me this two years ago, I would have said: 'there is no better move for a young EFL player to take if he wants to progress in the Premier League.

"Under Pochettino we saw the likes of Dele Alli and Ryan Sessegnon looks set to go in a similar direction.

"But under Mourinho I am just not sure anymore. There seems to be a lot of animosities bubbling under the surface in North London between the Portuguese and the board and it just does not look like a healthy environment to be in.

"Jack Grealish has shown this season how you can benefit by staying at a smaller club - his stock has never been higher. So perhaps a move to a smaller Prem club would be smarter for Eze."

Toby Wilding

"I think in some ways it would and in some ways it wouldn't.

"There is no doubt the prospect of moving to a club with Spurs' size and ambition will be appealing for Eze, and the chance to work with players with the quality of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura in attack would surely give him the chance to learn much more about his game.

"However, there may also be some other concerns about this move for Eze, such as the fact that there could be pressure on him as the new signing to turn their fortunes around somewhat following their struggles this season, which may not be easy for him to do in his first top-flight experience.

"Alternatively, if you look at the struggle for game time Ryan Sessegnon - another exciting young prospect - has endured since his move to Spurs, you wonder if this move would actually allow Eze too many chances to play in the immediate future, and you have to wonder how happy he would be with the possibility of being a bit-part player for them, after emerging as such as key figure for QPR this season."
